                                                                                      STAMP ACT

 

 

      The Stamp Act started in 1765 because the king started taxing anything that had to have a stamp newspaper, pamphlets, documents, ect.

      The Stamp Act most effected merchants, lawyers, businessmen, journalists and people who needed to use paper. Benjamin Franklin was important to the Stamp Act because he was the one who asked the parliament to end the Stamp Act.

      A group called the Sons of Liberty were made to help stop the Stamp Act.

      Jared Ingersoll was the distributor of stamps. People called him a trader. The people who didn't like the Stamp Act hung a fake doll who looked like Jared Ingersoll.  The Stamp Act ended in 1766.
